Forced Lesure 

It was in August 2014 when I received a work deployment as an interpreter to Manus island Detention Centre; which was worse than a prison, the location of the detention centre was morbidly surreal it was as if someone with a dark hummer poking a joke at the Asylum seeker that was kept there, the detention centre was situated on the shore of Indian Ocean the fence was few steps away from the water crashing to the shore and so were asylum seeker bound by the fence longing to reach the water. The Indian ocean ceaselessly but gently crashing the shore was making the asylum seekers both the Indian ocean and the asylum seeker bounded by the fence longing each other’s touch. A response to my visit in 2014 to Manus Island detention centre as an interpreter, A tropical Island that is no less than a paradise surrounding by the Indian Ocean the location of the detention centre was morbidly surreal it was as if someone with a dark hummer poking a sick joke at the Asylum seeker ridiculing them for Seeking Asylum, the  Australian Government Shamelessly demonstrating that we have the power and the resources to make suffer whoever knocks on our door to seek asylum. It seemed to me that the Manus Island detention centre was a place purposely built on the shore of the Indian ocean to physiologically vandalize the asylum seeker because from behind the tall fence the sight and sound of ceaselessly gentle wave crashing the shore of the Indian ocean
